Weekly Update 11/17/16

Greetings Life Community.

I was so humbled by Sunday’s service. As we celebrated Orphan Sunday, we saw God move in a great way. Many of you indicated that you feel God is leading you to adopt or begin fostering. I want to encourage you to be faithful to that calling and do what God is asking you to do. We are called to care for the orphans and I know God is going to use you in a great way. Make sure you explore Sunrise, Mary Kendall, or Benchmark so you can answer your call. A very special thanks to Jennifer and Michael Biggs for their passion to bring Orphan Sunday to Life Community.

I would like to thank all of you that prayed for me as I preached for the Kentucky Baptist Convention’s Pastor’s conference. I would also like to say thank you for all the kind words in regards to me being elected as the 1st VP of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. Rest assured, this is only a volunteer position that will last for one year. I may have to go to Louisville occasionally, but will not have to be out of the pulpit for this. It is a great honor and I am glad I can represent our church in this capacity. I am also thankful to be able to help represent the many Baptist churches across our state who are trying to win Kentucky for Christ. But in the end, I’m just Kenny (Husband of Taran, Father of Gracie, Hope, and Joy, Pastor of LCC, and child of God).

I have a few quick updates that I would like to draw your attention to:
I am happy to announce the details of our Annual Christmas offering. Our Christmas offering will be received during our Christmas Eve service on December 24th. We will be dividing the offering into four sections. 1/4 will go to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering for our foreign missionaries involved with the International Mission Board, 1/4 will go to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering for church planting through the North American Mission Board, 1/4 will go to Sunrise Children’s Services to help with Adoptions and Foster Care, and the remaining 1/4 will be going to our local Care Net (which helps girls of Owensboro who are considering abortions to explore the avenue of Adoption or educating and providing resources to be the parent that the child needs). Last year we set a goal of $5,000 for our offering and we met that goal, this year I am challenging the church to give $6,000 for the Christmas offering. Remember, 100% of this offering will be leaving Life Community and will go to help trust worthy organizations that are spreading the word and helping people. As we make our Christmas plans, be sure to pray about and consider what you and your family will sacrificially give for the Christmas Offering.

CLASS 501 L.I.F.E. is this Sunday! If you have completed 101-401 I want you to come this Sunday at 5pm to class 501. We will be honoring ministries, renewing commitments, and will receive a practical leadership lesson for Christian leadership.

Sunday is the last day to bring in your Operation Christmas Child Shoe boxes.

Make sure you sign up to serve for our upcoming season of serving. Lots of opportunities to be involved.
