A new year is on the way.

Off

Greetings LCC,

I pray that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.    I wanted to give an end of the year update, and a sneak peek into the new year, so make sure you read the entirety of this note.

The church was incredibly blessed on Christmas Eve during the service.  There was a full house as we sang Christmas songs, read the Christmas story, participated in candlelight, and took the Lord’s Supper.  LCC was also able to raise over $6,300 for the Christmas offering!  100% of this offering will leave LCC to further Kingdom work.  We fell just a little short of our goal of $6,500, but I do know that some were waiting till after Christmas to give.  If you would like to give online, you can visit http://lifeowensboro.com/giving/  ,  or you will also have an opportunity to this Sunday morning.

New opportunities come in the New Year.  I ask that you pray for your pastor as he will be working on a significant piece of his doctoral research.  Beginning on January 6th, I will be hosting an eight-week class (derived from over a year’s worth of research) on the topic of “equipping personal evangelists.”  This eight-week study will be conducted amongst a small group of LCC members that have agreed to be part of the course  (due to the nature of doctoral research and certain stipulations, I was not able to open this to the entire church).  After the study is done, research will be collected to be written in my doctoral project (similar to a dissertation).  So pray for this group that will be equipped on being “personal evangelists” in the new year. Also, pray for me as I teach this group.

Night to Shine 2019 is on the way!  Make sure you sign up to be a helper in this wonderful Kingdom event.  NTS has the largest amount of attendees registered, and we will need all of LCC on board to serve.  Also, if you have any connections within your networks of other churches, businesses or individuals that would like to help sponsor NTS, please inform them about the opportunity.  Local businesses and individuals contribute in a great way of making NTS successful.

Mark your calendar for “Friend and Family Day 2019.”  F&F Day will be held on February 17th.  This annual service is a wonderful opportunity to connect your friends and family to LCC, and hopefully more than that, to Jesus.  I will be teaching a new series entitled “Manuerving the Marital Minefield.”  Be praying about your unchurched friends and family that you will invite to be in attendance with you.

Also in this new year, there will be another opportunity to go to New York City.  Attendance will be limited, so if you are considering going there will be a $100 nonrefundable deposit due in January.  We will be helping a church plant in Red Hook (Brooklyn borough) in July.

Another exciting new addition to the LCC calendar will be a newly revamped discipleship tool.  For years we utilized class 201, 301, and 401.  In the New Year, around March, a new church-wide discipleship program (similar to these classes but different) will be offered.  It is the hope that the entire church will make it to all three.  Each of them will be spaced out over 2019.   You will hear more about this in the coming days, but it is the hope that everyone will go through them.

In addition to all of this, Pastor Jason and I, have already been working on scheduling youth camp, VBS, and kids camp.

I pray that 2019 will be an incredible year for LCC.  How do we ensure that it will be? We pray and seek the Lord.

God Bless and have a Happy New Year!

Pastor Kenny
