CHILI COOK OFF 2017

If you’re friends with me on Facebook, you’ve noticed I’ve been having a lot of fun with Facebook videos advertising our “Chili Cook Off”…..you wanna know why? Because this is an outreach event and anytime we get to share the Gospels with our loved ones I get fired up (okay the spicy category of Chili may “fire me up” too, but sharing the Gospel really fires me up!)

We want to encourage everyone to bring a pot of chili (or two!, it doesn’t have to be hot, we will have three different categories) to make this a success. When you enter your chili in the competition it will receive a number. Samples of everyone’s chili will be brought to the tables and then graded by everyone. No one will know whose chili is whose. The winner will be share to bring home bragging rights.

More than that…I want you to invite someone that does not know Jesus or someone that is not connected to a church. We will be having one of our outreach team members give a testimony and we will present a very simplistic Gospel presentation, while we are tallying up the votes.

Even though the chili cook off is a lot of fun let’s not forget that it’s a way to share the Gospel. So bring several pots of chili and bring some friends.
Take a few moments to read about what is happening in the life of our church
Night To Shine Training is coming. If you still have not signed up to help with Night to Shine we would encourage you to volunteer, especially as a “BUDDY” who escorts the attendee around the event and will just have a lot of fun! There will be a make up training if you didn’t make the last ones. You can volunteer by clicking here.

Life Group sign ups are in full swing. Groups will begin the week of January 29th. We want to encourage everyone to sign up for a group. You can learn more about what group to sign up for by clicking here.

Financial Peace University Classes will be beginning this Sunday night (4-6pm) on January 22nd. FPU will meet downstairs in the older building.

Our yearly mission trip to NYC will be held on July 15th-22nd. We will be having a NYC mission info night on Wednesday the 25th at 6:30 pm.

There will be a 501 L.I.F.E. (Leadership In Faith and Encouragement) held for all 401 graduates on January 29th at 5pm. If you have completed all the classes I hope you can make it out on that evening.

Mark you calendars for Friend and Family Sunday on February 19th. You’ll hear more about this coming up, but it’s our annual invite your neighbor day to LCC. Especially those neighbors and family who are unchurched and do not know The Lord.

Finally, be in prayer for our deacon body. Back in August, our deacons took suggestions for potential new deacon candidates and prayerfully looked through those. Given that our church was going through a season of transition, they did not feel that bringing forward a new name, during that time, was the best course of action (due to change and ordination requirements). However, they are considering the names that were suggested back in August and may potentially bring forward one of those name from that list in our February Family meeting on February 26th.
It is a pleasure to be your pastor.
