LCC Weekly Update 7-28-15

Off

Greetings LCC!

I would like to begin this email by welcoming the Bookers and the Grays into the LCC family. We are thankful that both Brooke and Brett Booker and Heather and Chad Gray felt lead of The Lord to unite with LCC. We look forward to having them as part of the family and to see how God will use them. Sunday was an overall good day, as we had a great crowd and we got to baptize Lauren and Cullin. We just praise God for what He is doing in our church. I believe we have bright days ahead of us, but we will continually need to pray and seek The Lord.

Just a few quick updates today.

Our Fall season of serving is coming soon. Pray about and sign up for the area of service that you would like to help in. All of our areas are extremely important, so we encourage every member of LCC to be involved and to utilize their gifts. By going to the “serving” section on our website, you can click on sign up sheet, browse through various areas, and then select the area you would like to serve in. Our kids ministry keeps growing and growing and growing! So we encourage you to especially give consideration to our children’s programs. There is a place for everyone to be involved!

This upcoming Sunday night our NYC mission team will be sharing about their adventures in Brooklyn at the Logsdon Center beginning at 5:30 pm. We invite the whole church to come out, fellowship, and to hear about what God is doing in New York City.

Our Third Annual Block Party is coming on August 29th. It will be held at The Heartland Park and is intended to be a blessing to the residents of The Heartlands. We will have inflatables, food, games, and more! I would like to encourage you to pray about donating new items to given away (i.e. bikes, coloring books, toys, etc.). This will help us bless the residents and make the block party even better. Jarrod McCarty and the outreach team will be heading this event up, so keep them in your prayers. This block party will also have an evangelistic element to it as we give away Bibles and have a prayer stand. Mission in our home community.

You can also suggest a person to be nominated as a Deacon, either at the Guest services table on Sunday mornings or online. All deacon suggestions will go to the current deacons, who will consider it, pray about it, and bring potential names forward during the annual family meeting.

Below is a link to a Biblical definition of a Deacon and a partial outline of a sermon I preached on deacons last year. This may help you as you pray about whom to suggest as a Deacon.

Our annual Family meeting will be held on August 30th to approve Ministry Teams, The 2015-2016 Budget, and to discuss other items. The Church Council and Nominating Team will be making recommendations to amend the by-laws. You can view those recommendations online

After the Family Meeting will be having a picnic style meal. Bring your favorite dish or desert to eat after the meeting.

Finally,

Don’t forget about Summer Bible Study and First Monday Night Prayer service. Both are held at Wing Ave. SBS begins at 6:30pm at the facilities of Wing Ave Baptist. Our next First Monday prayer service will be on 8/3.

God bless and have a great week!
