LCC Weekly Update 8/10/15
Greetings LCC!
I hope everyone is having a good day today. We were very blessed yesterday with the baptism of Cole Mattingly. We will be praying for Cole as he is heading back to college this week, but as a believer in Christ with a great testimony. We are also thankful for the Godly influence and witness of his family on his life; Nathan, Kerri, Brett, Brooke, Randy, and his mother Kim. We pray for the best for him.
Yesterday we began a new series titled “BACK TO THE BASICS”. The purpose of this series is to remind us of our “purpose”, kind of ;-). We will be studying the Great Commandment and The Great Commission and remembering why we exist as a church and why we exist on planet earth. I encourage you to attend and invite your friends as this series continues.
The announcement was also made for our upcoming Fall Spiritual growth campaign. This will be our third Spiritual Growth campaign as a church, this year lead by Carl Cole. You may still be asking…. “what is this fall growth campaign???”
- The name of this year’s growth campaign is “MOVEMENT”
- The campaign is intended to stretch our faith and unite as a church, getting as many people involved as possible.
- The campaign will begin on September 20th and last for six weeks.
- The sermons and the Life Groups will revolve around Jim Cymbala’s study “When God’s Spirit Moves”.
- We are praying for a record setting high attendance day of 300 people. This is a “by faith” goal and will require everyone inviting someone for it to be achieved.
- We will be forming new Life Groups, encouraging every member to be part of one.
- We will be organizing special prayer groups to pray for people and for God’s movement in our services for those 6 months.
- We will be forming teams to bring creative elements to the service, for publicity, for life groups, and for prayer.
- We will be raising and collecting “Operation Christmas Child” shoeboxes as part of the campaign for a mission emphasis
- We are praying for an awakening and a revival in our church!
- This will surely be a great time! Movement is coming. Make sure to mark your calendar for September 20th and the following six weeks to be at church every Sunday.
We are encouraging everyone to sign up to serve in our upcoming season of serving (September-December). Everybody has a chance to be involved and to part of what God is doing. You can sign up online by following the link below

As a church that really cares about “Changing the World”, we always want to be a blessing to our neighbors and our community. On Saturday August 29th, we will be hosting a free community block party for the people of the Heartlands Neighborhood. The Heartlands was our first target neighborhood and we want to keep being a blessing to that community to reach and love on people. There will be food, games, a fire truck, music, and more. All free. Help us spread the word, especially if you live in the Heartlands, because this will be a great way to connect and reach out to the people that live there.
Also, don’t forget that our upcoming “Family Meeting” will be held at the Logsdon Center on August 30th. This will be our yearly meeting for the membership of the church where we will prayerfully approve our ministry teams, our budget, and any possible new deacons that the current deacon body would recommend. We humbly ask all members to be present. There will also be a meal that night as well.
Let’s keep praying and asking God to show up, not only in our church, but in our lives as we live on mission for Him
