Life Communtiy Update 10/2/14
Greetings Life Community,
Hopefully you have had a great week. We are currently in week 2 of our Church Wide Spiritual Growth Campaign “I AM A CHURCH MEMBER”. We are encouraging you to pray for your church during this time and to participate in life groups. This week life groups have studied the second chapter of the book, which I also preached about on Sunday, in regards to being a unifying church member. As we take efforts to unite our church, to play on the same team, to avoid gossip, and to build each other up in the Word of God, we pray that our church will grow and be strengthened. Remember, Life Groups are always open and there is a place for you. If you are not in one I encourage you to be involved in a life group.
Let’s keep praying for our church wide campaign. If you have a specific prayer date make sure you take that serious and pray for your church throughout the day. We will be announcing soon our big campaign celebration event!
We were very thankful for the great turn out for the deacon ordination on Sunday evening. Mark Rowe and Daniel Koonce have been ordained and they join Greg Cain in comprising our Deacon Ministry. As the Deacon body is now formed they will be dividing up the church role and be assigned families to watch and care for in the upcoming days. Their role as deacons will be to assist me by assisting the body in the spiritual and physical needs that will arise. They also serve as those who help keep the unity of the church as well.
This upcoming Sunday we will have a brief Family Meeting after the Sunday morning service is over. The Nominating Team will be delivering their report on Team members for our church teams. Our church will then approve the slate of nominations. After the teams are formed I will begin the process of training those teams, casting vision, creating core values, and organizing our church council. Please pray for us as we press forward with this organizational task. We are very excited for all that God is doing in our church and it growing right in front of our eyes.
Remember that we will be collecting candy for the “Trail of Treats” booth that we will have in October. Trail of Treats is a community activity that happens the night before Halloween. Hundreds of children will descend upon Smoothers park to trick or treat at different booths hosted by organizations and businesses in the city. We will have a booth and will look forward to serving our community and making a difference. The only entry fee for the booth is 5,000 pieces of candy. So let’s do our part and bring lots of candy to church (only wrapped pieces no candy corn or marshmallow pumpkins etc.).
Our next 101 Class for those who considering Church Membership will be held on October 12th at 2:45 at the Ministry Center, I would love to have you!
God Bless
Pastor Kenny
