Life Community Update 8/20/14
Life Community,
Hope everyone is having a good Monday today. Very grateful for the day we had yesterday with our Deacons Mark, Greg, and Daniel helping me with the sermon. They did a great job! Very proud of them. I am also thankful for all the love and support that me and Taran graciously received from so many yesterday. It is truly a pleasure to be your pastor.
In addition to that we had a great crowd (171 in attendance), great youth group that night (16), and a great Kids Life (12). Our teenagers are really enjoying the Logsdon Community Center on Sunday evenings as they now have more room to grow and do activities. Kids Life on Sunday nights is also growing and we encourage you to bring your kiddos out on Sunday evenings at 6:30 as they learn about the Bible and Missions. We are thankful for the efforts of the church wide spiritual growth campaign and all of those who have played a big part in that. Life Groups are going strong and we are anticipating our campaign celebration and our 2 year birthday celebration on November 2nd, that evening at Crosspointe Bapitst Church. Make sure you make plans to attend as we celebrate another great year and another great campaign.
Tonight, Life Community is expected to be voted into the fellowship of the Daviess McClean Baptist Association. The meeting will be held at Buck Creek Baptist and officially begins at 6:45. I would encourage any life community members that would like to, to attend tonight to represent their church. Our messengers will then be allowed to participate in the voting of other business for that evening as well as the second session held the next night at Crosspointe Baptist Church. I hope you can make it out tonight and support
Also, we officially received a letter from the Kentucky Baptist Convention (our state Baptist convention) informing us that we will be voted on to be full pledged members of the Kentucky Baptist Convention at their annual meeting on November 11th at Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green. It will happen during the morning session and then our messengers can vote and participate for the rest of the convention. They are encouraging us to invite as many church members that can to be recognized that day. If you are free and would like to join me, I encourage you to attend on the November 11th. (Both the Daviess Mclean and Kentucky Baptist are autonomous groups and require incoming churches to be voted on at their annual meetings).
It is truly exciting to be part of a new church and see it coming together right in front of our eyes. Very thankful for the ministry team training that we had yesterday. Teams have now been formed and chosen their team leaders. Each team leader will now serve on our Church Council which will meet on a quarterly basis (The Church Council will be tasked with keeping communication channels open, calendar planning, and keeping core values in front of our church).
Mark Rowe is also offering to take our youth teens to the youth retreat, sponsored by The Daviess Mclean Baptist Association, at camp schaffer this weekend. If your teen would like to go please contact mark rowe mark.rowe@owensboro.kyschools.us The Cost is $40 per youth.
This upcoming Sunday LCC will be hosting another CLASS 401. If you have completed class 201 and 301 I encourage you to attend CLASS 401 to learn about missions and make a commitment to being a great commission Christian.
The Life Community softball team did a great job this year! They played strong and also had prayer after every game. They fulfilled their task of having fun while also being a light for Christ in the city league. It was announced that they will not be playing the final game tonight, so therefore the season is closed. I would like to officially thank Nathan Booker for his great leadership on this team. Life Community is gracious for him and Kerri for their willingness to help put together that team.
Every Sunday I am touched by all those who come to worship and who bring someone with them. I am very grateful for their hearts and their concern for connecting people to Christ. I’m thankful for those who caring for people in life groups (btw you can enter into a Life Group at any time) and thankful for those who bring a positive change through serving.
If you’re coming to the meeting tonight Ilook forward to seeing you. Have a great week!
God Bless!
Pastor Kenny
