LCC Update: 8/28/13
Good morning LCC, As I begin this weeks update I would like to first comment on the service last Sunday. As we took the Lord’s Supper I was amazed to see The Spirit’s working. It was truly an indicator that God’s presence was there with us. I have been preaching now for 17 years and Pastoring for 8 years, and I must say that it was one of the most memorable Lord Suppers that I have been part of. As our campaign is approaching, I can sense The Spirit of the Lord stirring our hearts and preparing us for what He has in store.
In addition to the Sunday service we had an excellent 301 CLASS. It was our first 301 CLASS with a large attendance (more than I expected!!!). 301 is a little bit heavier than 101 and 201 as it focuses on the theology of service and ministry and how to prepare for service and ministry. I am very proud of all those who attended and I’m praying for them this week as they complete their “homework” for Sunday; which consisted of them praying and discovering how God has uniquely “shaped” them for ministry. Our next CLASS will be a 101 offered on September 8th @ 2:45. If you are considering church membership or need to take this CLASS please mark that on your calendar.
I know some people just weren’t able to make the 301 this time, but I want to encourage you that I will be offering another 201 and 301 prior to the first 401 being offered. I will attempt to do this after the campaign (right at the year mark for our church). God is also doing a great work in our “KIDS LIFE” Ministry.
Remember, we now have ministries for Kids of all ages on Sunday nights @ 6:30 pm @ The Logsdon Center (2400 Friendship Dr.). This is in addition to our Sunday morning Kids Church (which goes up to the 2nd grade).
CAMPAIGN NEWS!
As our church approaches the “What on Earth am I Here for?” Campaign, let’s keep praying for what God has for us. The facebook page will have ongoing updates about the campaign.
Also mark your calendar for the prayer service on September 12th. We now have the location, it will be held at Eaton Memorial Baptist Church @ 6:30 pm. Even though the prayer service will be at Eaton Memorial, this is Life Community’s prayer service (we are just using their facility). Please mark your calendar to be there as we call upon The Lord to bless our church during this time. This will also be a day of prayer and fasting as well. In addition to this, the prayer team is asking that you will consider taking a time slot to pray for the campaign on September 14th. They are hoping to have someone praying for the campaign for 24 hours straight. This will be done in your home but we still need slots for your family to pray.
Eric Morris, part of our communications team, also sent out an email asking questions to our church family. Make sure you fill those questions out and send it back to him. We will be using these as part of the campaign to encourage everyone. It would be great to have a total of 40 responses, so we can have a testimony sent out via email for all 40 days of the campaign. The questions were:
Who are you and your family?
When did you become part of LCC?
How has God spoken to you at LCC?
Are you excited about the campaign? If so, why?
What are you expecting God to do in this campaign?

Being part of a Life Group is critical to this campaign. As the sermons touch on the topics on Sundays, you read about it daily, you will also discuss it weekly. So make sure to be part of a group to really experience the campaign. We are praying for 80 adults in our life groups. Remember you do not have to be a member to be part of a Life Group or have gone through any of the CLASSES. It’s open to all.
Some have asked me about our books and study guides and when they are available. You will receive your books and study guides in your life group. There is a cost of $10. This $10 pays for your hard back book (a $20 value) and your study guide (a $6 value). We are able to offer both (together) at the low cost of $10 because our church is absorbing most of the cost. We don’t want anybody to miss out because they can’t afford it, that’s why the cost is so low. If you still can’t afford the $10 (which pays for both books), don’t let that stop you from being part of a group, we will do what we can to help you out! We really want you involved.
Be in prayer about who you will be inviting to the Campaign launch. Don’t forget about the “three people” you are praying for and inviting to launch day on September 15th. We handed our invest and invite cards a couple of Sundays ago, so be praying for those 3 people and what God has for them. Let’s pray that they will be able to make it out on the 15th, and even more that they will be part of your Life Group.
What I love about this campaign is the spiritual emphasis. It’s all about helping people discover why God put them on Earth! So exciting! Praying for you this week!
