LCC Update 6/25/13

Greetings Life Community   We were so blessed on Sunday to be able to baptize Brian Baughn!  We rejoice in his decision to place Christ as Savior and to follow through with public baptism.  God is doing a great work in our community and I believe he isn’t done.  I believe God is going to grow a large church that makes a difference in Owensboro Kentucky.  Join with me in praying that God will anoint and move within Life Community Church.

Wanted to take a moment and give some quick updates:

On Sunday mornings, our parking is getting a little congested. We always want to make sure that our guests and those who come to Life Community for the first time, have the best parking spots. After speaking with the custodian on Sunday morning, it is now okay to utilize the loop in the front of the school.  I encourage all Life Community Members to take advantage of this, to open up more parking for our guests.

Life Groups began on Sunday Nights and I believe they are a success!  We had 40+ people attend Life Groups, as we began the study “SHARE JESUS WITHOUT FEAR”.  All the groups are meeting together at the Logsdon Center and all seemed to have really good discussion.  This Bible study is a very eye opening.  It helps us to understand the need to share with others and it also equips us to share Jesus in non-threatening ways.  If you didn’t get involved in a group, there’s still time. Just come at 5pm next Sunday night.  We would love to have you.

Family Movie Night is this Friday!  This event will serve two purposes;  Kids will get a chance to watch a fun movie with their family and we will also use this as a way to present Jesus to our community.  We will have games, popcorn, activities, and of course the movie!  We will also be giving away a prize too.  Make sure you bring your kids and watch the movie with them and please invite families that don’t go to church anywhere.  It’s going to be a great night let’s keep praying for this event!

Also, we will be taking a one day mission trip/project to Princeton Kentucky to work with HR ministries in their clothes closet.  We will need to arrive in Princeton @ 8:45.  We will need to leave Owensboro by 7am on Saturday.  We can all meet at the Springs Parking lot, park our cars, and then car pool down there.  If you are willing to drive a vehicle please let me know.  I will be driving, but we will need a few more volunteers.  We will return by 8 pm on Saturday evening.  It’s going to be a great day.  Also, shoot me an email if you plan on going.

As July begins, we are going to be intentionally reaching the children of our community.  I am excited about our Block Party on July 20th and The Pleasant Green Baptist Church mission team that is going to help us with that event.  The Block Party will also kick off our Vacation Bible School, which begins on July 22nd.  I would encourage all of our members to be involved in the block party and especially involved with VBS.  VBS is one of the greatest outreaches that we have as Southern Baptists, it’s not just an event for kids a major mission arm of the church.  Every year, many children give their lives and hearts to Jesus.  It’s also a great way for us to reach family.  I encourage everyone to sign up to help.  We need people that will help with the food, with recreation, with teaching, and with music. I have seen more bonding, more fellowship, more outreach, and more strengthening of a church done at Bible School than other places. VBS will last from 6-8.  Be praying about how you will serve.

Also, we will use VBS as a way to lead into our next big kid event which will begin in August.  When school starts back up, we will be beginning Sunday Night Team Kid at the Logsdon Center.  Team Kid will be for ages 1-5th grade.  I’m very excited about this as we will now have something for kids of all ages.  Youth will transition to meeting on Sunday nights too.    (When we do begin our Sunday Night program, Life Groups will meet at other times throughout the week so everyone can help with Sunday night Team Kid).

Let’s keep praying for our church and inviting people to our church.  I believe God is doing a great work and I believe he is just begun!   If you need anything this week, please let me know.
