LCC update: 3/27/14

Greetings LCC!

I hope this email finds you having a great week.  Thankful for all of you and pray for you daily!

I am very excited as we press forward to Easter.  My sermon preparation has taken me personally into a deeper look at the events that surround the crucifixion and the event of the crucifixion itself.  When dealing with the content of the cross, it should melt all of us.  The CROSS ROAD is no doubt a dark road to travel, but it leads to our salvation and the hope of eternal life. I encourage you to keep attending this current sermon series as we tell the old old story of Jesus and His love for us.  As we travel down that road there are two events that I am personally happy about…. Our Good Friday Service and Our Easter Celebration, so make plans to attend the Friday Service (held at Crosspointe Baptist) and make sure to invite a friend to our Easter Celebration.  And for you early risers, we celebrate a sunrise service with Wing Ave Baptist, before the Easter Celebration.

Remember, we will be moving into The Owensboro Community College Auditorium on Palm Sunday, April 13th.  In preparation for that I am encouraging some of you to sign up for set up team and clean team.  The Setup Team will arrive early (8am) to help with organizing and putting our worship center together.  We will have chairs in the new facility, and there may be a temptation to think there is no longer a need for a setup team, but we will still set up sound equipment, the kids area, and will be introducing a back drop and stage lighting.  Likewise the clean team will help with vacuuming, cleaning the restrooms, and sweeping.  Everybody can be used and we encourage many of you to sign up.

A New Season of Serving will begin in May (which we already have the sign ups out for that, be praying about where you can serve), but we will also have special sign ups for set up team and clean team.  We will also be giving our final “tip” to our custodian Terry on April 6th, I want to encourage you to bless Terry for all of his hard work.

I will speak more about this in the upcoming Sundays, but as we press into the new facility I want to prepare you for the change that is about to take place.  The facility will look a lot different, and possibly even feel different, than where we are now.  It will be more modern and will call for us to have no drinks or food in the auditorium (we can in the foyer, just not in the auditorium), so go ahead and talk with your kids about this.  Also, we will be experimenting with a new stage look and lighting.  The purpose behind this is to create a better atmosphere that draws our attention to focus on worship.  Environments are very important when worshipping God, a bad environment can be distracting and can even take away from worship, where a more focused and intentional environment can aid the worship experience.  Know that in the new facility, your Pastors heart, is to help people focus on the worship experience.  Be open to the change, as I know you will.  (Remember…we are a church plant!  We get try to ALL KINDS OF NEW THINGS! Jesus told us that old wine does not belong in new wine skin….so enjoy what He has for us).

Also, we have a couple of volunteers (Rob and Carole Thomasson) who will be manning the Ministry Center on Fridays.  Fridays is my family day, which I treat pretty sacredly and I’m not at the Ministry Center.  If you need anything on Friday, call up to the ministry center in the morning (270-926-1200) and they may be able to assist you.

I will be preaching tonight and tomorrow night at Providence Baptist Church in Fordsville for a youth revival service. I humbly request your prayers as I preach.  I hope you have a great weekend if you need anything let me know.

God Bless!

Pastor Kenny
