5/7/13 Update

Greetings LCC,

We want welcome to the family our FOUR new church members.

We are happy to receive Ray and Dana Akin, Sara Baugh, and Donna Colbert!  We praise God for their deicision to unite with Life Community Church!  We praise God for their decision on Sunday!

As many of you know we had a medical emergency in our church in our Sunday morning. I am happy to report that Michael is doing fine is now at home. He has communicated with me that he was very grateful for all of the text messages and phone calls that he received. I was also very pleased to see how safe our community actually is! We were very grateful for our members who are trained nurses and EMTS, sadly it does take an emergency to discover if your church is safe or not. In our case, we have a safe church! I am praising God for this and I am also praising The Lord that Michael is at home recovering.
This upcoming weekend we will be having a booth at the BBQ fest. The BBQ fest is a major event in Owensboro with thousands of people who visit. Since we are a church without a building, it’s very important that we represent ourselves at the BBQ fest. In addition to just representing ourselves, we will also have the opportunity to show the love of Jesus to the people of Owensboro. We will be giving away a Gas Grill and Plastic 16oz cups with our logo and service times on it. The goal of our mission project is to simply show the love of Jesus to people at the BBQ fest.

If you have signed up to work at the BBQ fest shoot me an email about your availability or when you would like to help out. If you did not sign up there is still time, just let me know. The more that we have signed up to help, the easier it will be. Plus, I believe this will be A LOT OF FUN! We will need helpers on Friday and Saturday, but especially Saturday.

This upcoming Sunday is also Mothers Day. We will be doing our first Baby Dedication this Mothers Day @ LCC. What is a baby dedication? A Baby dedication is a time when the parents make a formal commitment to God and to their church to raise their child for The Lord Jesus Christ. It’s a very special, touching, and serious moment. A baby dedication does not “save a child” and is really more for the adults than the child. Some have asked, “my child is 5 or 6 years old” are they too old to participate? Absolutely not! Maybe you just became a Christian or you have just returned back to The Lord. The dedication is a time for you to dedicate this child to the Lord. No age restrictions. Just let me know if you plan on dedicating your child on Sunday morning.

We are also going to begin partnering with the Audubon Area, Presidents Place food pantry. We began our church at the Logsdon Community Center and still use it for many activities. The residents of the Presidents Place (seniors who live around the Logsdon) do have a community food pantry that helps them out a lot. Let’s continue to bring Can goods for May and June to help the seniors Food Pantry.
