LCC weekly update 12/1/14
Greetings Life Community,
Yesterday, the Advent season began (preparing our hearts for Christmas). We give much thanks to God for His great movement yesterday. We welcome to the church family Carl, Shelley, Chloe, and Carson Cole as they united with our church family. We are also thankful for the professions of faith of Chloe and Cole Helton and Braden Payne. It is simply amazing to sit back and to see The Lord moving in such a way. Days like yesterday remind us that we are still to share the good news! We must always be a connecting, caring, and changing church.
I am also incredibly touched by the love and support that the church showed for a hurting family on Sunday through a love offering. Yesterday was indeed a milestone of the spiritual maturity of our church. Not only were we able to bless a family we also exceeded our weekly offering needs. The Bible tells us that God loves a cheerful giver and I truly believe that when folks give from their hearts they are doing it for The Lord. This is just evidence that God is growing us all! I can truly say that this is a wonderful church to pastor, you all are such wonderful people!
We will continue our advent series “ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS” next week. So make sure you take time to invite someone to come with you.
A Few Updates:
We are continuing to pray for Heather and Sam Williams and the passing of their baby Jack Williams. Services will be held on Tuesday December 2nd at Glenns funeral home. Public visitation will be from 12-2pm, with the funeral service being held at the funeral home at 2pm. The funeral is open to the church family.
Our Christmas Dinner will be December 14th that evening. We are still looking for the right place to have it (due to a scheduling conflict with our first location). We will know for sure by this Sunday. Thanks for your patience.
We will be having the next class 101 on December 21st. If you are a regular attender at LCC or would like to know more about church membership, we encourage you to come.
Our children are currently working on some Christmas songs in kids church. Word on the street is that we may get to hear them in worship, closer to Christmas. Make sure your children (up to the 2nd grade) are involved in kids church so they don’t miss out.
The first deposit for the New York City Mission Team will be due January 11th, $50 non-refundable. We will also be holding a NYC team info trip on January 4th.
Continue to pray about how God would have you give to our annual Christmas offering. It will be received on Christmas Eve, during our Christmas Eve service (or the Sunday before if you cannot come). Remember, 100% of the Christmas offering will go to help mission work. Life Community Church will not be keeping any of it. One reason that we give to missions during Christmas is because of the reason of Christmas. Christ came to this earth to save people, it was His life mission. Therefore, we receive the Christmas offering to help mission work and to continue the good news. Last Sunday, you saw a video of a church planter in Indianapolis who receives support from the North American Mission Board, he is just one of several missionaries who benefit from offerings just like this. Not all of us will be called to leave Owensboro, but we are all called to help. We have set a church wide goal of $4,000 to bless people (encouraging at least 40 people to give $100).
25% of the mission offering will go to the International Mission Board for foreign missionaries
25% of the mission offering will to the North American Mission Board to help church planting missionaries
25% of the mission offering will go to help our local Sunrise Children’s Services (which helps our local children in the foster care system)
25% of the mission offering will go to Jon Carr, the church planter in New York City, that our church helped out this summer and will continue to help.
I hope you have a great week. Remember, with Christ there is always HOPE!
Pastor Kenny
